Handles heavy-duty jobs with ease

A high level of driving comfort, even with high payloads: The standard 3+2 leaf springs provide high levels of comfort and can cope with a maximum payload of 972 kg. The Amarok can pack a full size ‘Euro’ pallet with its incredible 1222mm tray.

4MOTION and off-road mode

Permanent 4MOTION all-wheel drive

Even under extreme conditions, the Amarok turns every journey into an experience. That’s because its chassis and drive system have been perfectly tuned – and combined with the tried-and-tested 4MOTION all-wheel drive.

The intelligent ‘off-road’ button sets up the vehicle for off-road driving with functions including Hill Descent Control, and recalibrated ABS settings that improve performance on dirt, and reduce the stopping distance on loose surfaces.

TDI Engine

Power comes from within

The tough 4-cylinder Amarok has all the grunt you need to conquer the building site or go off the beaten track. Available in automatic, the 2.0 litre Turbo Diesel engine generates 132kW of power.

If you need even more grunt, the Amarok V6, with a 3.0 litre Turbo Diesel engine, delivers a thrilling 190kW of power and a class-leading 200kW on Overboost. With that amount of power, very little stands in its way.

Safety Features

Keeping you safe on every journey

Loaded with driver aids the Amarok will help make you a better and safer driver on-road and off-road. All Amaroks have standard Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) to avoid skidding plus Hill Hold Assist (HHA) to prevent slides on hill starts, and Hill Descent Control (HDC) to ease Amarok down steep descents, even without engine braking.

8-Speed Gearbox

With the refinement you expect of Volkswagen, you might forget you are in a rugged workhorse. The sophisticated interior makes driving a dream especially with the technically advanced, 8-speed automatic gearbox.

Offroad ABS

A short tap on the brakes.

A shorter braking distance. Once activated, the wheels lock briefly when braking on loose surfaces, thereby essentially creating a wedge of material under the wheel and significantly reducing the braking distance. This noticeably increases the driving safety.

Hill Descent Assist

Walking speed Activated automatically.

When off-roading, Hill Descent Assist lets you drive down slopes in a safe, controlled manner thanks to the engine management’s ability to regulate the engine. The vehicle’s speed is maintained at a constant pace.

Ground Clearance

Inclined towards a top performance

The Amarok’s increased ground clearance means it can handle even extreme angles, gradients and slopes.

Ramp angle

Thanks to its increased clearance and depending on the loading condition, the Amarok can climb ramps with an angle of 15.6° to 20.1°.

Slope angle and wading depth

The Amarok boasts a maximum slope angle of 29.5° at the front and 18.0° at the rear. It can handle pools with a wading depth of up to 500 mm.

The Amarok doesn’t just perform like a beast, it looks like one too. The Amarok comes with a host of exterior features designed to reflect its on-road and off-road capabilities. High strength steel throughout the chassis and body provide a robust platform while hi-tech features such as the Bi-Xenon headlights (now standard on Comfortline) pave the path ahead; they also light up the faces of passers-by.

Storage Areas

Plenty of space

From coffee cups and work gloves through to a water bottle: the Amarok’s interior has plenty of storage space for everything that you need for both work and play. This includes a storage compartment on the dash panel, spacious storage areas under the front seats and four cup holders.

Air conditioning and heating systems

“Climatronic” air conditioning system with allergen filter

This system offers 2-zone temperature control for the driver and front passenger as well as manual air recirculation. The air conditioning adds more or less cool air depending on the intensity of the sun’s rays and the outside temperature. The coating of the allergen filter keeps out even very small particles such as allergenic substances.

Navigation System

Voice Control

You are free to operate the telephone, navigation and audio functions without taking your hands off the steering wheel and call up virtually all of the menus and notifications on the radio or navigation system display using voice commands.

Automatic Post-Collision Braking System

Brake away from critical situations

The Automatic Post-Collision Braking System triggers braking after a collision, with the aim of preventing secondary collisions. After a short delay, the vehicle begins a phased braking action down to 10 km/h, during which the driver can take over at any time.

Stabilisation Systems

Stops you from veering off your path

Regardless of whether you love a sporty driving style, want to prove yourself while driving off-road or pull a heavy load: the trailer stabilisation function and Electronic Stability Control will help you out.

Trailer stabilisation

If your trailer starts to snake back and forth, the standard system carefully brakes the towing vehicle and reduces the engine’s torque. This smooths out the trailer and maintains driving safety.

Prevents under- or over-steering via targeted braking of individual wheels.

ParkPilot

Park without obstacles

ParkPilot emits audible warnings when obstacles are detected in front of or behind the vehicle when parking, and also provides a visual display of the vehicle’s distance from the obstacles.

Anti-theft warning system (not illustrated)

The anti-theft warning system emits acoustic and visual warnings if someone tries to enter the vehicle without permission. In addition to interior monitoring, the optional system includes an electronic immobiliser, a deactivatable SAFELOCK and tow-away protection.

“Rear View” Reversing Camera

Back becomes front

The “Rear View” reversing camera simplifies parking by showing a limited view of the area behind the vehicle on the display of the radio or navigation system. Static guidelines aid parking.

Light and Sight systems

Thanks to the front fog lights with integrated static cornering light and intelligent lighting systems, you always have the road in your sights. Even when you’re driving over misty forest roads early in the morning or travelling home from a business meeting in the evening. Front fog lights with integrated static cornering light The optional front fog lights with integrated static cornering light ensure optimum visibility in poor weather conditions. The headlight on the inside of the curve illuminates the roadside when turning.
